What to Expect when You're Expecting...

Our “About Boston Terriers” page should give you some insight to what you can expect your Boston Terrier to be like. Here I will outline what you can expect from ME as your puppy’s breeder AND my expectations for you as a puppy buyer!

What You can Expect from the Breeder

Health

My females live a healthy lifestyle from day one. They are appropriately active and fed a blend of raw food and top of the line kibble throughout their life and during pregnancy. During their time with us your puppy will:

  • Eat the same diet as mom
  • Be raised on good footing to promote ideal orthopedic development
  • Receive their first round of vaccines
  • Receive an official certificate of health by a licensed veterinarian
  • Be microchipped
  • Receive BAER and CERF certification
  • And, If you choose, your puppies ears will be cropped by our licensed vet who specializes in cropping.

Additionally, your puppy will go home with a starter health insurance plan via Trupanion!

More regarding Ear Cropping

It is entirely up to you wether your puppy’s ears are cropped or left natural, I support your decision no matter what! Should you chose to have your puppy cropped, that will be done with my trusted cropping vet.  My vet is familiar and experienced with the appropriate styles for the Boston Terrier and is sure to preserve the dapper look they are known for! Note; Unlike most traditionally cropped breeds, Boston Terriers can be cropped at up to a year of age and there is plenty of reason to do this if you intend to show your puppy. If this is the route you wish to take, I suggest doing significant research on vets near you who specialize in cropping and ask to see their portfolio and the Bostons they have done. I’m happy to help you find a qualified vet!

Going Home

First things first, I do not operate my kennel in a “first come – first pick” basis. I pick the appropriate home for all of my puppies. I take all of your preferences and everything you have expressed wanting and pair you with whichever puppy fits that description best! If, for whatever reason, you do not wish to bring home the puppy that I feel suits you best, you may wait for the next litter!

All Puppies are AKC registered. Puppies with distinct faults will be placed on “limited registration”; meaning they cannot be shown in conformation, nor are they allowed to be bred. In the event breeding does occur, the resulting offspring cannot be registered. Certain puppies of particular interest to me and my kennel may be placed on co-ownership. Most co-ownerships are temporary and terms are made on an individual basis. This allows me to utilize certain puppies for the betterment of my program without holding them back. The price of co-owned puppies will reflect my kennels benefit from the partnership, co-owning a puppy also comes with perks for the puppy’s owner. In the event we are unable to come to a co-ownership agreement, you may opt out on that puppy and wait until the next litter.

Cost

  • Total cost: $3,500 without crop/ $4,000 with crop
  • The cost to reserve a puppy, “The Retainer”: 25% of the total cost of your puppy($875/$1000) paid within 7 days of the birth of the litter and applied to the total cost of your puppy. The Retainer is non-refundable in the event you back out, but can be applied to a puppy in the future.
  • Final payment: $2,625/$3000 due at 7 weeks of age
  • Co-owned puppies will have a lesser cost based on the individual situation
  • If you would like to receive your puppy trained on and off leash, there will be additional cost. Just reach out for more info after submitting your application! (Note: additional training means your puppy will need to stay with us a bit longer if you do not live locally)

What the Breeder Expects from You

Other than you loving your puppy and providing for them the best care you have to offer, I really don’t ask much! The three main things I expect from puppy buyers are that you:

  • Sign my contract which we will work together to customize to your specific needs/ desires
  • Share updates here and there
  • And give me the opportunity to buy the puppy back, no matter age nor condition, in the event you no longer wish or are able to care for them

Outside of those 3 things all I can ask of any of my puppy buyers is that they give their puppy the best shot at meeting their full potential and having a fulfilled life! As much as it is my goal to breed superb examples of the Boston Terrier breed, dogs are mans best friend first and my hope is that you two become great partners in any and all aspects of life.
